ART IN MOTION: SOUND TRANSIT 1 LINE art collection OPENS 12/6

Big news for the greater Seattle area! Along with the opening of the Sound Transit 1 Line Extension on December 6, 2025 comes the unveiling of a new public art collection. Force/Collide is honored to be have contributed to a few works along the Federal Way Link Extension.

Join us in celebrating the new art collection at the opening ceremony on Saturday, December 6th from 9:30am-3pm!

In 2021, Force/Collide was selected to fabricate “Inhertance,” a large-scale sculpture by Michelle de la Vega made for the Kent/Des Moines station. Our firm spent the next three years assisting with design and engineering and fabricating the colossal 13’ W x 30’ L x 25’ H installation. Hundreds of stainless steel “family trees” were used to create 1,500 sq ft of lattice that clad a steel A-frame house. Michelle conceived of the piece as a monument to the community the stations were built on. This project is a proud result of a woman-led team and an artist of color:

Installation: Saybr

Concurrently, Force/Collide fabricated structural elements for artist Catherine Widgery for her site-specific installation “Prismatic” at the Federal Way Downtown station. Later in 2025, owner Chelsea Gaddy co-founded a new company called Pracitk to expand in the art fabrication realm. Practik had the pleasure of fabricating the remainder of the stainless steel components that support dichroic glass fins for this stunning work, which is installed in the clerestory of the station platform. This project is also a proud result of a woman-led team:

In development currently, Practik is underway on fabrication for two new monolithic sculptures by Christopher Paul Jordan to be installed at the KDM and Star Lake Stations in the summer of 2026. Follow Practik to keep an eye out for updates.

It is acknowledged that these projects were built on stolen land.
